JULY 29 – What African Cities Can Teach Us About Sustainability 6 PM

Sustainability looks different everywhere, and it starts in communities. Join us in a dive into African sustainability through a talk presented by Joy Eghosa-Ewone. This program will be a discussion-oriented presentation, with visual storytelling, to engage and reflect about how sustainability can look different across socities, and what communities in the Global North might learn from African urban experiences. 

Among African cities and communities they are developing creative, adaptive, and community centered approaches to sustainability. These changes invite global conversations on environmental transformations. They are using innovation, resilience, policy experimentation, traditional knowledge, and everyday sustainability practices emerging across different urban contexts on the continent.

Joy is a Ph.D. candidate at Colorado State University, specializing in African environmental policy. Originally from Nigeria, she brings a global perspective to sustainability and community leadership. As a Rotaract CSU leader, Joy is committed to fostering international understanding and celebrating diverse cultures through her board position at the Global Village Museum.
