In an increasingly digital world, there is something powerful about slowing down and putting pen to paper. Join us for a thoughtful lecture and hands-on workshop with Diane Odbert, a former educator and devoted journal keeper who views handwriting as a deeply personal art form.

Diane will begin with a presentation exploring her philosophy of journaling and handwritten expression. Through stories and reflections, she will discuss how writing by hand can reveal personality, invite introspection, and create a lasting, physical record of our thoughts and experiences. For Diane, journals become heirlooms, capturing moments of depth, reflection, and individuality.

Following the talk, participants will move into a guided tutorial where Diane will share some of her favorite tools of the craft, including beloved papers, journals, and writing instruments, along with the tactile and even visceral reactions they inspire. Guests will then have the opportunity to slow down, reflect, and create a handwritten piece of their own to take home.

Whether you are an avid journal keeper or simply curious about the creative possibilities of handwriting, this program invites you to reconnect with the beauty, physicality, and authenticity of expressing yourself on the page!
