Germans from Russia – From Catherine II’s Heimat to Colorado Farms and Homes

May 23, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$5

In 1763, Russian tsarina Catherine the Great, herself a German national, signed a decree inviting foreigners – especially Germans – to settle in Russia.  The decree marked the beginning of the history of Russia’s Volga Germans.  Professor Rock and Cheryl Glanz will trace the communities of Volga Germans in Russia to their eventual migration to the United States and settlement in Colorado.

Kenneth Rock, Professor Emeritus, CSU Department of History               Cheryl Glanz, Board Member International and Northern Colorado chapters of Germans from Russia

Note:  The Global Village Museum is delighted to host excellent speakers for the Russian Retrospective program series.  The flip side, however, is that the program room is filling to the brim for these educational presentations.  Going forward, we will be opening the program doors one hour before the scheduled start time, so we suggest you arrive early to secure a seat.  Because we do not take reservations, seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
