The author of an unusual memoir of a spirited girl in a remote, undeveloped region of Nepal will present Yak Girl from Nepal on Saturday, June 7, at 10 am.  The presentation is part of the Museum’s author series entitled Global Adventures: Exploring Culture Through Reading.  Dorje Dolma is the author of Yak Girl: Growing Up in the Remote Dolpo Region of Nepal.  Dolma will describe her first 10 years in Nepal – from the primitive mountain village to the bewildering city of Kathmandu and finally to a new home in America where she received life-saving surgery.  She will outline the daily life and practice of centuries-old Tibetan traditions as well as detail the trials and joys of growing up in a mysterious, faraway part of the world.  The Museum’s doors will open at 9:30 am.  Tickets to the presentation are $5 per person, and reservations are requested at globalvillagemuseum.org. Following the presentation, autographed copies of Dolma’s book will be available for purchase.  Light refreshments will be served, and book sales will help support the Global Village Museum.
