2025 Executive Board

Randall Kurtz
BOARD CHAIR
A lifelong Northern Colorado resident, Randall is a retired Sales Executive dedicated to community service through the Rotary Club of Fort Collins, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and the Global Village Museum. Inspired by founder John Roberts, he developed a deep appreciation for world cultures and art. Randall is passionate about the museum’s role in fostering global understanding.

Heidi Cross
VICE CHAIR
A Fort Collins native and CSU graduate, Heidi served for 27 years with the City of Fort Collins, primarily as a Patrol Officer with Police Services. She worked extensively with at-risk youth programs and later managed a veterinary clinic before transitioning into sales. A founding board member of the Mundoville Museum, Heidi brings a love of travel, photography, and cultural exploration to her role.

Kathleen Batteron
TREASURER
A fourth-generation Fort Collins resident, Kathleen earned a business degree from CSU and later a Master’s in Business Education. She held finance and accounting positions for over 20 years, including at Dellenbach Motors. A longtime worldwide traveler, Kathleen has managed the museum’s finances for the past decade, helping to sustain and grow its impact.

Dr. Sherry Gardner
SECRETARY
A licensed clinical psychologist and former epidemiologist, Sherry is a lifelong advocate for global understanding. She believes that art fosters appreciation of different cultures, which is essential for world peace. A passionate weaver, spinner, and traveler, she brings a deep love of cultural traditions to the museum’s board.

Martha Denney
Martha has spent over 30 years advancing international education, gender development, and global partnerships. She played a key role in CSU’s Peace Corps and Fulbright Programs and co-founded the Global Village Museum to celebrate folk arts and cultural preservation. An avid traveler, she enjoys pottery, metalsmithing, and collecting textiles.

Steve Dietemann
Steve Dietemann is passionate and devoted to the arts. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Concentration in Ceramics and Kindergarten through twelfth grade education from Colorado State University. He also received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wyoming with a concentration in ceramics. Steve was born in Fort Collins, He later worked for the City of Fort Collins as the Coordinator of Arts, Crafts and Pottery for more than 25 years. He enjoys serving on the museum’s Board of Directors and on two museum sub committees, the Exhibit Committee, and the Membership Committee. Steve loves just about all things outdoors and looks forward to sharing them with his three kids and his Greater Swiss Mountain Dog named Terabyte.

Katelyn Garfield
Katelyn is a Marketing Strategist at OTM in Fort Collins, specializing in brand positioning and audience engagement. A passionate traveler, she values cultural exploration and uses her experiences to support the museum’s mission of fostering global understanding. Just as she helps businesses connect with their audiences through storytelling and strategy, she applies those same skills to help the museum grow its reach and impact.

Garth McCann
A longtime Fort Collins resident, Garth is an investment broker with a background in stocks and real estate. With a Ph.D. from Ohio State University, he has taught at both OSU and CSU. His commitment to service is evident through his involvement in Rotary, the Interfaith Council, and political organizations. A dedicated father and grandfather, he values lifelong learning, community engagement, and global connections.

Lynette McGowan
Lynette has worked in international development, senior services, and fair trade, traveling extensively throughout Asia and serving as a Training Adviser for HelpAge International. Locally, she spent 23 years with the Larimer County Office on Aging. Now retired, she enjoys outdoor recreation, volunteering, and exploring cultural traditions.

Laura Thornes
With a background in international education, Laura spent over a decade directing CSU’s Education Abroad programs, connecting students with immersive global experiences in 80+ countries. Now focused on international fundraising and research, she is passionate about fostering cross-cultural engagement. She enjoys travel, the outdoors, and time with family.

Bonnie Titley
Bonnie holds degrees from the University of Colorado and has traveled extensively to over 50 countries and six continents. A licensed commercial pilot since 1980, she has visited 156 airports across North America. Her lifelong love of maps and travel fuels her deep appreciation for world cultures and art.
