Who is Russia? An Historical Perspective

April 20, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$5

Due to the overwhelming response, Who is Russia?  An Historical Perspective will be presented again from 2-4 pm Saturday, April 20.  Steven Seegel, Professor of Russian History at the University of Northern Colorado, has graciously agreed to repeat his lecture as the program on Feb. 16 was sold out.

Tsars and mad monks, trolls and spies, painters and composers, rocket scientists and Nobel-prize winners.  So what is Russia?  Or maybe it is fairer to ask:  Who is Russia?

Professor Seegel examines the history of the world’s largest country from ancient  conflicts and dynasties through to Marxism, the Cold War, the fall of the USSR, and Vladimir Putin, now entering his 19th year as the country’s controversial strong man.

Note:  The Global Village Museum is delighted to host excellent speakers for the Russian Retrospective program series.  The flip side, however, is that the program room is filling to the brim for these educational presentations.  Going forward, we will be opening the program doors one hour before the scheduled start time, so we suggest you arrive early to secure a seat.  Because we do not take reservations, seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
